THIS IS AMERICA, CHARLIE BROWN: THE MUSIC AND HEROES OF AMERICA
CBS 05/23/1989 |
Just as Schroeder is about to give a concert with a commentary on American music, Lucy enters telling him that her report on American heroes, with props, will dress up his act, and the teacher thinks it's a great idea. The band - Snoopy on banjo and fiddle, Charlie Brown on harmonica, Pig Pen on bass and Linus on guitar - play a few bars of each song that Schroeder mentions. Then Lucy, with the help of Marcie, Sally and Peppermint Patty, shows photos and comments on famous American women. They take turns reporting on the accomplishments of individuals such as John Phillip Sousa, George M. Cohan, Irviing Berlin and Franklin traces how Spiritual music evolved into the "blues," "jazz" and "ragtime." Finally, Lucy explains how folk music and lyrics reflected Social problems and events. Both reports are finished and Charlie Brown compliments his friends on their great report. Music directed by Ed Bogas and Desiree Goyette. Vocals by Lou Rawls and Cameron Clarke. |
